"Happy Holidays" by Harlan Lovestone

Created by The Greenhaus Founder, Harlan Lovestone, an inspirational message of the way things "used" to be before we became so reliant upon convenience.

MOB loves what Harlan is doing in Greenville, SC!

From our community to yours... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Suprise Someone Who Needs It!

It is always the goal of M.O.B to only ask for very small donations yet, in lieu of a few last minute requests for assistance, we are sending out a fun challenge to our communities:

SEND SOMEONE IN NEED A $5.00 GIFT CARD (or more.)

So that they may purchase necessities and are able to have a safe Christmas with their family!
ONLY 14 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

If you would like to send a suprise this Christmas, please contact M.O.B for addresses to send!

Thank you,
Rachel

The Lottery Epiphany

I had an epiphany to justify my madness last night... Over 100,000,000 people play the SC powerball lottery TWICE a week!
If everyone of those people gave just ONE MORE DOLLAR ONCE THAT YEAR, M.O.B would raise $100,000,000.00 towards community sustainability. ONE DIME A MONTH, a quarter each time they play.... wow, we just might not need Federal tax money to sustain anymore!
I pay myself $5.00 a week, which goes into a can marked "Wish List." This money, is my own little stash for things I don't need but, really want (like massages, or art supplies.)
This week, I am implementing a new challenge for myself- $5.00 a week into a can marked "Pay It Forward."
I wouldn't expect everyone to stop playing the lottery- it supports our education system anyhow but, if you play, why not set aside a quarter each time for charitable donations?
Odds for winning Powerball: 1 in 111,000,000 this week
Chances of changing the planet if everyone gave a dollar:  Guaranteed!

2hands.org

Though My Own Backyard hopes to be a resource for additional funding and means to raise needed items throughout communities, it is organizations like 2Hands.org that we aim to assist.  Please take a moment to look at their site, read the posts (Horry Co. is listed in Mt. Pleasant and throughout) and register to give if you can put your hands on the requested needs.  Contact M.O.B (Casey or Rachel) if you need help getting things to the families.
If you are in need... this is a great resource and, as always, M.O.B would like to help too!
