M.O.B. Call For Entries (current project - Couture T-Shirt Design)

This call for submission is in search of local artists at any level to submit a Couture T-Shirt Design to benefit the development of My Own Backyard, a sustainable community project and not for profit organization which includes an artist collaborative.

WHAT:

   My Own Backyard is seeking submissions of quality designs for the publication in our 2012 limited edition Couture T-Shirt Collection.

   We are looking for elegant and/or funky designs to be printed on high quality T-shirts.

   We will print these T-shirts for sale locally and at our online store when available.  The back of these shirts will include a small advertisement for My Own Backyard along with the artist's name and website (if applicable.)

   These are a limited edition.

   It is part of our mission at M.O.B. to promote artists and offer new outlets for viewing their work, while at the same time helping others to realize that we are a positive organization that hopes to raise awareness of the importance of community.

NOTE TO ARTISTS:
   This project is to help raise money for My Own Backyard to obtain our official 501c3 not for profit license and develop an official My Own Backyard website.  Future projects will allow commission to the artists.


WHO CAN SUBMIT:
  • Any resident of Horry County, South Carolina or a resident of our sister chapter in Austin, Texas.
  • Any beginner, amature, or professional artist.  
  • There are NO age restrictions or credentials required.
This contest is FREE to enter.


CONTEST GUIDELINES:

We will consider any design formatted for instant reproduction on T-shirts.
We will select one image in each of the three categories:
  1. Men's
  2. Women's
  3. Children's
We are looking for designs that either:
  • Convey a message without (or with limited) text.  This message must be positive.
  • Designs do NOT have to have a theme.  We will consider quality, abstract, or illustrative designs.
  • We will accept designs that have been hand created (such as paintings and drawings.) To be considered you MUST take accurate, printable digital photographs of the work and submit it in the required format.
  • All images must be legible and printable on a T-Shirt.
AUSTIN SUBMISSIONS:
   T-shirts that are formatted for screen printing (1 color) will be accepted in addition to the above submission types.


HOW TO SUBMIT:
  • Any graphic design formatted for a T-Shirt will be considered for selection.
   (There is a limit of three images per artist submission.)
  • All images should be submitted via e-mail.
  • All images should be in .jpeg format as an attachment.
  • Resolution should be 1650 x 1276 pixels and/or 279 mm x 216 mm.
  • File names should include: citation of public space in image and artist's name 
           (i.e.: Beach Shore Drive_JDoe.jpeg)
  • All submissions should have the "Consent to Reproduce" statement included at the bottom of this Call for Submission.
  • Submissions should be mailed to myownbackyardcommunity@gmail.com
  • Please include if you are a resident of Austin, TX or Horry County, SC in the subject line.

  • Deadline to submit is NO LATER THAN: December 1, 2011 - 11:59 pm.

All selected works will be announced via reply e-mail to all contributing artists.

DEADLINES:
  • All submissions for consideration due NO LATER THAN:  December 1, 2011 - 11:59 pm
  • Announcement of selections sent in e-mail: December 15th, 2011
  • First print of T-Shirts - Order forms to be sent via e-mail:  January 4, 2012
  • Orders accepted for second round of printing:  After first print sells out and thereafter

NOTE TO ARTIST:
    In the event that there are not enough submissions by the deadline date, we will host a second call.  You will be contacted via e-mail if deadlines change.  Request for mailing of this Call For Entries and to send images via snail mail will be honored.


 CONSENT TO PUBLISH:
Please copy and paste this into the body of the e-mail and fill your name in the blank spaces.

Submissions that do NOT include this Consent To Publish will not be considered for entry.

{By including this letter in my e-mail, I (name:___________________) agree to release all submitted images and statements to Rachel Harris-Beck of Horry County, SC or Casey Janowski of Austin, TX for the production of the "2012 Couture T-shirt Collection." 

I understand that all of the proceeds from the sales of this merchandise will go to the development of the not for profit organization, My Own Backyard, including but not limited to; necessary licensing, website hosting and development, and fundraising events forthcoming.

All images selected will be properly credited on all materials produced.  I also understand that in the event that there are not enough submissions to produce the mentioned merchandise, my submission will be held for up to one year (December 1, 2012) for future consideration, in which case, I will be notified through e-mail of plans for future production. 

I, (name                           ) confirm that all images submitted represent My Own Backyard Artist Collaborative Project, that they are original material produced by myself, and do not require copyright permission for the development of merchandise.  

I have not submitted any images which would require individual consent for publishing, such as personal photographs or borrowed artworks.

Furthermore, I understand that that all images which I have submitted will be considered for further exhibition and that in lieu of this opportunity, I will be contacted for further permission to exhibit.
