Food Resources

We've been getting many requests for food needs in Horry County.  Many of the food banks are in DESPERATE need of donations! Unfortunately, most of the food banks are in Conway but, many will bring food to those who need it.

Also, our friend Chris Steele hosts a project called Krypton Batcave Gaming and they work to support fundraising drives for Chrone's disease and Food Drives.  You can find them on Facebook at:https://www.facebook.com/krypton.gaming.5?ref=ts
We have also learned that Helping Hand is overwhelmed and needs donations.

If you have something to spare, M.O.B will ALWAYS take it to give.  Food, clothes, baby supplies, any necessities.  There is always someone who can use these things!

Autobiolibrary

A very important and ongoing project for our M.O.B community is our effort to collect, archive and encourage the autobiographical stories of people in our community and, eventually, everywhere.  In a technologically influenced society, we are losing the will to write and record our most important and personal views of the world and our environment.  It has always been these personalized accounts of the average person, the story not controlled by editorial criticism, that allows us to learn and grow as a society and as people.
We have prepared a simple form for you to begin your autobiographical journey.  No matter your age or writing level, we encourage you to reflect and record the lessons, observations, solutions, loves, losses and wisdoms of your life's story.
We've made it easy to do.  You can either create your own blog and we will post it, or simply type and send in pdf attachment to M.O.B (myownbackyardcommunity@gmail.com) and we will post your installments on our blog.  These can be anonymous or titled.  As M.O.B continues to grow, we will develop new ways to present these autobiographical texts.  We are looking for new formats, better archiving methods, ways to allow you to update and edit, and even opportunities for podcasting (which will come when we launch a hosted website.)

Please take a moment to visit our wordpress at:  www.autobiolibrary.wordpress.com
You will find there a template to help you begin.

These will not be edited or changed.

Please include a statement stating we have permission to post your writing in your e-mail.

Summer Projects For M.O.B
We are assisting SOS Healthcare in efforts to raise needed items for The Richard's Summer Camp. This camp provides a good environment for children with Autism in Horry County. Currently, they need donations of bottled water, healthy snacks (and gluten free snacks) and any other monetary donations to sponsor a child's tuition.  Please contact M.O.B for drop off or mail in addresses:  myownbackyardcommunity@gmail.com

ALSO we are on a strong mission to assist Project Hope, a currently one woman powerhouse in support of women in crisis (re-orienting after incarceration, abuse victims, ect.) Brenda Rhue is the founder of this AWESOME non profit and really needs donations and volunteers!!! Please contact M.O.B for more information on how to get involved!

Collaborative Project Group!

Collaborative Group Projects
My Own Backyard

Group Mission:  To create multi dimensional works of art using multi media/mediums and combined perspectives creating a more diverse and rich content.

How This works:
Content matter will be selected by vote among the group.  Three content categories will be focused upon:  Social content, esthetic content, and children’s content.  Each project will designate a team for each dimension of the project categorized by medium/media: videography, photography, mixed medium, installation, writing, journalism, and event/performance.
Each team will work within their group to develop a strategy for implementation
Each strategy will pose before the collaborative group for approval and criticism.
Each team will adhere to specific guidelines of the collaborative (see by laws)
Once each team has completed their dimension, we will work together collaboratively to design a cohesive method for exhibition and translation so that each dimension will work together to create one work of art.
This project is open to everyone, there are no restrictions to age, skill level nor location.  You and/your team must be able to submit work via e-mail including: jpg images of work, video streams and/or any other digital medium.

By Laws:
DEDICATION to your team!  This Collaborative is designed to create more opportunities for local artists and creatives to exhibit, sell and develop their own body of work.  If you can not adhere to your specified duties as a team member you will be disqualified from that particular project.

COMMUNICATION with the group!  This is an ego free collaborative.  It is a learning experience first and foremost and we will at all times employ professionalism.  All criticism is in the interest of the group NOT in the interest of the individual and is intended to lift the project NOT to degrade it.  Badgering, ill criticism (not constructive) and general drama MUST be left at the door THIS INCLUDES BODY LANGUAGE.  We will work honestly,  openly and will NEVER agree 100% but, we will revere one another as artists and intellects!  Failure to do so will rely on the discretion of each team leader and can result in your disqualification on that project.

INVOLVMENT: Every group member will commit to continually and progressively thinking about content for further projects.  Every member will submit nominations for project ideas written in the format provided.
Each group member will sign a waiver stating that all submitted content related to any one project is property of this collaborative.  This means, any contest winnings, publishing and/or opportunity which shall arise as a result of materials used in the final product will be distributed and rightfully owned by every member of this collaborative.

Should opportunity for travel, partial exhibition, or other undividable opportunity arise, it will become the decision of the group as to who will be appointed to receive on our behalf.  Decision will be made by vote.
Deadlines WILL be adhered to.  Extensions must be approved by the Director (Rachel Harris-Beck)
Any expenses accurred are the responsibility of the artist.  We must think sustainably.

We will learn and follow all copyright, and public content laws in creating our work ie;  waivers signed for release of photo/video by individuals, creditation to public landscapes, use of clip art or design must include right to use statements.

NO GROUP IMAGES WILL BE DISPLAYED IN ANY PUBLIC FORUM WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE GROUP!  No facebook updates with images, no discussion of content etc.  WE ARE A SECRET SOCIETY and we want to create a suprising final product!

Discussing your personal work is optional.  All information discussed in this group will be respected.
If you agree to these by laws and are willing to make the commitment to this project, please copy and paste the following statement, fill out the information and e-mail your statement attached to:  myownbackyardcommunity@gmail.com

Potential Space

Good news... at least a closer step toward the ultimate goal.
We have our sights on spaces for the development of a Cultural Arts Center!  This is the ultimate goal of MOB, a center which will encompass a LARGE variety of cultural arts classes, lectures, events, and services including some secrect suprises.  All profits to be donated to community!
Why should you care BEFORE we have a license or space?  Because, we are planning a near future meeting to appoint an official board, discuss fundraising and volunteers and essentially to discuss the multitude of opportunities this will bring to everyone!
The idea of THIS project was part of the end of a three year plan that may be manageable even with in the next six months BUT... thus far, there have only been a few of us working on development and, this project being so suddenly upon us will take an army!
So, what can you do?
-Watch our posts for upcoming meetings.  They won't be excessive but, they are necessary for development.
-Talk about us.  Share our blogspot with community members (everywhere.)
-Subscribe, comment, and tell us you're interested!
The T-shirt design Call For Entries remains open.  Submit designs!
Building a solid structure has been slow moving due to bueraucracy and politics but, when we get there, we will be prepared!
Thank you M.O.B community for your interest!

M.O.B. M.I.A?

We're still here... promise.  We have been working diligently on trying to obtain an official 501c3 license so that we can really get the ball rolling.  Without this tax exempt capability, we can not apply for grants or further funding in order to launch our artist shoppe or host fundraisers for area non profits.
In the meantime, we are developing new projects for "the fun of it."
We would love to hear any ideas you may have, updates on area progress, or events!
Please stay subscribed and watch for our upcoming progress!

Thank you M.O.Bsters,
Rachel
